Investigation Partnership
Students of ITECH Lyon investigate optimum application of SUCCUIRA year of intensive investigation under the direction of Delphine Bégué lies behind the students of ITECH Lyon, who worked on the sustainable pre-tanning agent SUCCUIR of Schill + Seilacher in their final thesis.
The aim of the project, which was accompanied by the leather chemicals department was to determine the optimum application parameters – including pH value, application quantity, temperature and reaction time – to ensure the most efficient tanning possible. The results are promising: The tests confirm not only a high shrinkage temperature and tensile strength of the leather, but also a high degree of biodegradability. The students Audrey Blanchet, Léna Guedes and Gauthier Charles drew a positive conclusion: This project was a great learning experience. It allows us to deepen our technical understanding of tanning processes, experiment with sustainable innovations and strengthen our analytical and problem-solving skills. It also demonstrated the importance of collaboration between academic and industrial partners to drive innovation for a more sustainable future.
